Priceless

keyun says (1:41 AM):
talia marry me!

!!! (And no, it wasn't taken out of context!)
Well, this is what comes out of a night of crazy conversations.

On a less hyper note, Cadenza really really feels foreign. Listening to all the recordings now, and - hm.

Okay enjoy your holidays (:

REACT 2008

Hello!

I shall give a brief recount before we forget everything (: Keyun heh sorry I'm following your "piece-meal" approach.

Section sleepover with the sec2s was rather enjoyable; although we didn't really do much apart from playing cards and listening to [shocking :P] music. At night Sheryl and Yj scared the rest with stories about rocking chairs rocking on their own and swaying lights, which was -amusingly - probably a mere figment of their imagination =p Awoke at 5am and ventured out at about 545 to have prata together (Hmm, less is more :D) I think we got to know the sec2s better, and I hope everyone had a good time.

REACT was really quite fun, despite our batch's overall reluctance to go for it. We played hard, in both senses of the word, though our sb took turns feeling sick and had our fair share of embarrassing moments (for meeting RI and RJ with unrequited, um, generosity), heh and the teachers weren't too happy with us.

Sectionals were quite cringe-inducing, sorry; the tuning was quite horrendous - it didn't help that our location amplified the sound and the tuneful trumpets were a few metres away from us. I apologise for looking mildly horrified, though, just that tuning seems to be a sore spot with my very odd ears.

Combined prac - The pieces were not as hard to play as last year's (furusato and utopia) and relatively sight-readable, and it was remarkable playing with a nearly 200-strong band. It's probably the last time we'll get to play with Jiayun, though ):
Yingjun and Keyun's solos were really nice! (for the want of a better word, am not feeling in a writing-ish mood now, and my vocab has deserted me). The dawn solo was .. okay-luh but not great; but by the time we reached our piece I was too tired to think about being scared, thankfully.

Lunch was spent in the typical silence; we should really think of more things to do for section lunches in the future! We attempted (I lied, gee ><) to excuse ourselves to go to the toilet to make amends for our lack of foresight, but it didn't work out =p (Yes, our miserable "presents" - if they're worthy of being considered as such - were scribbled on the back of our Dawn scores. My poor score! heh)

Games were surprisingly fun. Was in Jiayun's group, umbrella, and this is the first time I've been in a group that's fairly enthusiastic, sporting, and won nearly every game :D (except the war games).

Batch dinner .. we got a pre-batch dinner surprise request from Johnson, and being the ever-so-nice people we obliged (haha, well, we were feeling guilty). By the time we reached J8 everyone was exhausted and left shortly, so it was once again a more or less sb dinner. Took 156 home with keyun, and smartly took her horfan and chocolates off the bus with me (passed it to her this morning). Heh and for the FIRST TIME we didn't end up in sixth avenue! :D

Alright, this post sounds strangely like those I used to come up with in sec1 - it's good to be simple and child-like, at times. Wonder if this will be our last REACT, but glad that it ended on a fine note, yep (:

(I think rebecca's one-liners are contagious.)

Turnadot!

Hi,

Short one before I doze off before the screen, heh.

I know today's been rather overwhelming, what with sentencing half our section to transferring to percs for SYF on the first day of being top batch, separating oboes somewhat, and compounded by a severe warning to buck up. Plus handover and top batch, and all the other changes he sprang on us.

But yj that was sweet.

We must give our best.
And we will.

love,
talia

hello ppl!
another post from me :)

wow. all of a sudden, i'm SL and talia's BM,
oboes have to have warmups alone
and mr oura says he might be cutting some flutes for perc and piano

i'm really really sorry, section.
for not knowing how to deal with this,
for not knowing how to ensure that all of us get to play the flute for syf,
and for everything that will happen to our section for syf.

i will try and be very critical abt everyone's playing, from now on, make sure we will improve as a section and that as many of us will be able to play for syf as possible, and set up a battle plan as soon as possible.

i'm sorry section, that you have to go through this
but i will never give up on the section, so please don't give up on yourselves!!

love, yingjun
